What a Season It’s Been at Seahorse Marine School!
As the boating season draws to a close, we’ve been reflecting on what a brilliant few months it’s been here at Seahorse Marine School. From flat calm seas and island lunches to new qualifications and smiling trainees, it’s been a busy and rewarding season for everyone involved. We've taken on 6 new instructors to keep up with the demand and invested in new versadocks, a new RIB (Waterhorse) and new 4 stroke engine for the Seahorse RIB, jetskis and a tractor to assist with launch and recovery of boats and skis.
Powerboat Courses in Full Swing
Our RYA Powerboat Level 2 (PB2) courses have been running at full speed this year, with fantastic turnout and some great conditions (and a few rough ones too, just to keep everyone on their toes!). We’ve had over 70 trainees successfully complete their PB2 courses throughout the season — including three newly qualified just last weekend. Congratulations to everyone who’s passed!
There’s still one more PB2 course running 25/26th October, and we’ve got just a couple of spaces left. It’s your last chance to grab a place at this season’s price of £295 before prices rise in 2026.
PWC Courses More Popular Than Ever
It wasn’t just powerboats making waves this year — our RYA Personal Watercraft (PWC) courses were more popular than ever with over 25 courses run. We’ve seen a big rise in jet ski enthusiasts wanting to get qualified and learn to ride safely and confidently. From new owners keen to get started to returning riders brushing up their skills, it’s been brilliant to see so many people embracing responsible PWC use on the Arun and beyond.
If you missed out this season, don’t worry — we’ll be running more PWC training dates over the winter and next spring.
Adventures Beyond the Classroom
Of course, it’s not all work at Seahorse Marine School! We’ve enjoyed some brilliant training days and social trips — including a memorable run over to Bembridge on the Isle of Wight, where our instructors enjoyed a lunch at The Best Dressed Crab. The weather was mixed but the sea was calm and we were able to open up the throttle, and it was a perfect reminder of why we love getting out on the water. Quick stop over at Sparkes Marina on Hayling Island to refuel and we headed home!
Looking Ahead: Winter Training & VHF Courses
As the temperatures start to drop, our focus shifts to winter training opportunities. We’re currently gauging interest in running RYA VHF / Short Range Radio and First Aid courses over the winter months. VHF SRC is a one-day course plus exam, with all radio equipment provided — a great way to keep your skills sharp and your RYA qualifications up to date during the off-season. If you’re interested, let us know so we can set dates that work for everyone.
Thank You to Our Crew & Students
A huge thank-you to all our trainees, instructors, and support team for making this season such a success. Whether you were learning to handle a powerboat for the first time, brushing up on navigation skills, or simply coming along for the ride — we’ve loved having you on board.
Here’s to smooth seas, safe boating, and another great season ahead in 2026!

A brilliant summer Fiona,if not on the fishing front. Thanks to Richard and all the regulars for much needed help and advice.
